Our Story

Unique Design & Events has proudly served the Austin-area since 2008. What began as a side job for owners Yara and her husband Gabriel De La Cerda has quickly grown into being Austin’s premier Luxury Event Draping & Decor Co. known for offering elegant and intricate draping treatments for both the corporate and social world. Wether it’s 200 feet or 20,000 square feet our team is experienced and very knowledgeable in the field of perimeter draping as well as ceiling draping treatments.

Aside from being the leading source for draping our second specialty is offering event decor services to the South Asian and Multi Cultural Weddings. With more than 4 years of experience our team has in depth knowledge allowing us to create uniquely designed wedding decor that simultaneously reflect their taste and honor their traditions.

Today Unique Design & Events is proud to be the premier source to offer distinctive specialty wedding decor imported directly from India adding an elaborate fusion touch their celebrations. We strive to provide a level of service to our customers that is unparalleled.

Meet Our Team

Yara Castelan

CO-OWNER, CREATIVE DESIGNER

While Yara’s background is in the medical field the love for design led her to take the risk of building her dream job. Her experience in the event industry has created an opportunity to let her creativity develop through time creating trendsetting designs to follow for years to come. Her passion  for event design comes from her childhood and she’s developed a reputation from the event industry of an executor and artist.  When she’s not designing gorgeous wedding decor for others she is enjoying a nice run out at the lake and enjoying outdoor sports together with Gabriel and their two children Gabriel and Gisele.

Gabriel De La Cerda

CO-OWNER

As co owner of Unique Design & Events, he oversees our larger event productions as well as our week to week logistical support. Gabriel is also responsible for all of our custom ceiling draping installations.

When he isn’t working he and Yara enjoy spending time on the grill hosting friends and family as well as playing assistant coach for both children’s after school sports.

Monica Griggs

OFFICE MANAGER

Monica was born in Temple, Texas and came to Austin in 2011 to attend the University of Texas. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Global Studies. While in college, she led the University Chorus as President while also tutoring elementary students through Austin Partners in Education. In 2015, Monica joined our team as an Administrative Assistant and afterwards was promoted to Office Manager.

When Monica is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking her dogs to the park, and enjoying Austin.
